ThefifthandfinalseasonofTheNewAdventuresofOldChristinepremieredonSeptember23,2009andconcludedonMay12,2010.It’sconsistedof21episodes.Inthisseason,followingBarb’sarrestsheisrescuedbyChristine,MatthewandnewboyfriendDave.WhileRichardtriestowinNewChristineback,hetemporarilymovesintoanewapartmentwithMatthew.Christinebeginsgoingtotherapy,butsheisattractedtohertherapist,Max.TheyeventuallyabandonChristine’stherapyandstrikeuparelationshipinstead.NewChristineannouncesthatsheispregnant,causingRichardtorekindlehisrelationshipwithherandNewChristineeventuallygivesbirthtoababygirl.Meanwhile,BarbbecomesengagedtoareluctantDave.Attheconclusionoftheseason,ChristinealsobecomesengagedtoMax,butshefeelsintimidatedbyhisveryeducatedfriendssoshedecidestoreturntocollege.ThisseasonearnedtwoEmmyAwardnominations:oneforOutstandingLeadActressinaComedySeriesforLouis-Dreyfus,andoneforOutstandingArtDirectionforaMulti-CameraSeries。
